Media Misreports Gaza Woman’s Death as Malnutrition

International media, including the BBC and The Guardian, falsely reported that Mara Abu Zohari, a 20-year-old evacuated from Gaza to Italy for medical treatment, died of malnutrition in August 2025. The Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) refuted this, revealing Zohari had leukemia. Italian authorities requested her evacuation, which Israel approved, though earlier dates were offered. This misinformation, spread by Hamas-affiliated sources, fits a pattern of exploiting medical cases to fuel anti-Israel narratives, while Gaza’s 1.1 million face ongoing food insecurity
