Beirut – Dozens of senior Hezbollah commanders, including some uninjured in combat, have undergone plastic surgery in Iran and Iraq to alter their appearances and dodge Israeli drone strikes, according to a report by Saudi news channel Al-Hadath on November 9, 2025. Sources close to the group revealed that the procedures, supervised by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), aim to conceal identities after Israel eliminated key figures like Hassan Nasrallah in 2024’s war.
The report details flights to Tehran and Baghdad for facial reconstruction, funded by the IRGC, as Hezbollah rebuilds its command amid the fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire. Even unwounded officials opted for changes, fearing AI facial recognition used in targeted killings. Al-Hadath cited Lebanese social media mockery, with users joking, “I’m pretty sure the surgeons are from Mossad…” and “Do they really think this will help? They tried the same in Bnei Brak… seriously, how stupid can they be?”
Israeli officials dismissed the efforts as futile, with Mossad sources claiming advanced tech surpasses cosmetic alterations. The tactic echoes past attempts by Hamas and IRGC operatives. Hezbollah has not commented, but the report highlights the group’s desperation to protect leadership post-war losses.
