Washington, D.C. – January 19, 2026 — U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) unleashed a scathing condemnation of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos for inviting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to speak, just days after the Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown on nationwide protests reportedly left thousands dead.
In a blistering post on X, Graham compared the invitation to inviting Adolf Hitler to a global event immediately after Kristallnacht—the Nazi pogrom against Jews in November 1938 that marked the beginning of the Holocaust.
“Inviting the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic to speak under such circumstances is like inviting Hitler to a global event after Kristallnacht. This decision is a new level of indifference and ignorance,” Graham wrote.
He directly addressed the Davos organizers: “Do you even know what you are thinking? There is no worse message that can be sent to the protesters in Iran.”
Graham praised President Donald Trump’s public support for the Iranian people, who have continued protesting despite the regime’s violent response and near-total internet blackout. “European elites have lost their moral compass. This is the strongest sign of moral decay; decay among those who themselves enjoy freedom and abandon those who fight for it.”
He concluded with a message of solidarity: “May God protect the protesters of Iran. Keep protesting. Restore greatness to Iran.”
