Russia’s Deadly Kyiv Assault: 25 Killed, Including Children, in Massive Strike

On August 28, 2025, Russia launched a ferocious missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, killing at least 25 people, including four children aged 2, 14, and 17, and injuring 63, among them 11 children. Over 20 sites—homes, schools, offices, and cars—were devastated, with a video capturing the horrifying moment two missiles obliterated a five-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district. Ukraine’s air force reported Russia unleashed 598 drones and 31 missiles, including Kinzhal and Iskander-M types, with 563 drones and 26 missiles intercepted. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy slammed Russia’s “ballistics over negotiations,” as the attack, one of the deadliest this year, hit just weeks after U.S.-Russia peace talks faltered. The EU’s Kyiv mission and British Council offices were also damaged, signaling Moscow’s defiance of diplomatic efforts.
