Gaza – On October 31, 2025, the United States informed Hamas, with mediators’ consent, that the organization must withdraw all fighters from the Israeli side of the Yellow Line in Gaza. Israel is now authorized to enforce the agreement within its territory, marking a pivotal shift in the ceasefire dynamics. This directive empowers the IDF to conduct operations in the Bani Suheila area of Khan Younis, previously restricted by hostage concerns and time pressures.
Unlike earlier phases, where urgency limited Israel’s actions, time now favors Jerusalem. The IDF can solidify control over 53% of Gaza, while Hamas is hemmed in with displaced civilians and no reconstruction prospects until full disarmament. Violations trigger decisive responses: neutralizing commanders, demolishing infrastructure, and expanding territorial hold. U.S. mediators, including Qatar and Egypt, endorsed the move to ensure compliance with Trump’s peace plan.
This turning point could accelerate Hamas’s capitulation or provoke escalation, as the group grapples with internal dissent and shrinking options. For Gaza’s civilians and the hostages’ families, this phase brings hope for resolution amid the ongoing struggle.
