Gaza – On October 31, 2025, footage emerged showing Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists conducting a search for the bodies of fallen hostages in northern Gaza, as part of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement. The video, verified by IDF sources, depicts armed militants from the two groups combing through debris in the Beit Lahia area, under IDF supervision. This operation aims to recover remains of two deceased hostages still held by Hamas: Staff Sgt. Ran Gvili, 24, and Sudthisak Rinthalak, 43.

Gvili, a YASAM special forces fighter, heroically killed 14 terrorists before being murdered at Kibbutz Alumim on October 7, 2023—one day before his 25th birthday on October 8. Rinthalak, a Thai agricultural worker, was abducted while tending orchards at Kibbutz Be’eri. Their bodies were taken to Gaza after the attack that killed 1,200 and took 251 hostages.

The search, coordinated with mediators Qatar and Egypt, follows the release of 48 living hostages under Trump’s plan. IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee in Arabic urged Hamas to expedite the effort, warning of consequences for delays. Families of Gvili and Rinthalak expressed hope, with Gvili’s mother saying, “Bring my son home for a proper burial.”
