On August 28, 2025, Israel launched a massive strike in Sana’a, Yemen, targeting a Houthi “cabinet meeting” packed with senior military and political figures, including ministers, during a broadcast of leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi’s weekly speech. Israeli security sources, cited by journalist Doron Kadosh, called the operation a success, stating, “The direction is positive—we estimate that we succeeded.” The attack, codenamed “Drop of Luck,” aimed to eliminate key figures, including Houthi Chief of Staff Muhammad Abd Al-Karim al-Ghamari, who survived a previous Israeli attempt during the June 2025 Iran operation but was injured. Al-Ghamari, a veteran missile commander, was reportedly at the meeting, alongside Defense Minister Mohamed al-Atifi. The IDF confirmed the death of Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and several ministers, though al-Houthi himself was absent. This precision blitz, executed within minutes across multiple sites, underscores Israel’s aggressive push to dismantle the Iran-backed Houthi leadership amid their relentless attacks on Israeli targets.
